Question du Jour

There's that old notion that men who drive huuuuuge monster trucks must be compensating for a lack *ahem* somewhere else in their lives, right?

The guys at work want to know - does that make women a little more interested in guys who drive Mini Coopers or SmartCars?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Kind of. My hubby doesn't drive at all (he has epilepsy) & I think he's the most interesting man I've ever met... but yes, generally I'm more interested in a man who displays signs of being able to see past his car being an extension of his penis.

Sadly, those guys in the tiny cars tend to be pre-judged as stingy, selfish types, so really, there's no winning at either end of the spectrum. Men, a 4-door sedan signals generosity and comfort with your penis size -- you heard it here first.

Hmmm...this is a tough one because my boyfriend has no car. He just drives a bike. Like, a bicycle. By choice. Actually, when I first met him and he asked me out I was all like, this dude is a total loser! He has no car! This will never work! But, now we've almost been together a year and the lack of car just gets more annoying as time goes by. Does this answer your question? Probably not.

My husband drove a 4 Runner when we met. Now he drives an Altima. I think the manly trucks definitely say "I'm single and looking." Smart cars make me think men are gay! If you are male, drive a tiny smart car and are not gay, please say so. Please explain how it makes you feel manly. Also, have you ever picked up a date in your smart car? If so, did you get a second date?

I have nothing but admiration for men who drive small, fuel-efficient cars. No matter the size of their...equipment. ;)

Wow, you all speak fluent car. Me? Not so much.

I readily admit to judging a man by both his hatwear and shoes. The former should be unobtrusive and by necessity only, the latter should be clean and in the price range of 80-150 dollars (any less and he's wack, any more and he's vain) (unless he's wearing extreme-temperature expensive Sorrels and I find that kind of hot).

Car? I don't care except monster trucks (and hummers and king cabs for city driving) are gross and mini coopers say "gay" or "software engineer."

And I know you probably posted this in slight jest, but I'll respond honestly that I don't think penis-size is the guiding force, but I do think the size of a guy's tires may be inversely proportional to his brain capacity. And note that I said tires and not car, because the distinction makes a difference in Montana.

I think the fact that I would prefer the mini/smartcar man over the monster truck equivalent has less to do with penis size than persona. Besides, if car size *were* inversely proportional to endowment... honestly, I have no where good to put the smartcar owner. Ouchie.

Tell them they're overestimating the amount of time that women spend thinking about their penises.

I used to drive a mini cooper, so I'm biased. :)

Also there was a bumper sticker that said "I drive a mini. What are YOU compensating for?" which has always made me laugh.

I think guys on either end are compensating. For personality and/or brains. What matters more to me is how a man takes care of his car.

For lack of a better word, I 'dated' a guy. He used to drive big-ass trucks, but in his defense he was often hauling animal trailers or long-bed heavy hauling trailers and sometimes 5th wheels, stuff like that.

He's moved up in his company, and now he drives a HIGH END Cadillac. Still tough and sexy.

Doesn't exactly answer the question, though. hm.

hmm. cut me and i bleed octane so i may not be the right one to ask this. i prefer BATs (big ass trucks) and usually, the men who drive them. or old muscle cars. i want to feel that engine in my chest when they drive by.

mini cooper drivers tend to be okay. smart car men drivers? holier than thou and usually bitchier than i am. not my thing.
